Rapaport Trade Pawn Brokers Plan

A new Rapaport Trade plan for qualified pawn brokers - eligibility, pricing, what's included.

Written by Philippa Corrick

Rapaport Trade now offers a dedicated plan for qualified pawn brokers. The plan gives pawn businesses another way to price, list, and sell diamonds and gemstones directly to verified trade buyers.

Who Qualifies?

To join the Pawn Brokers plan, applicants must:

  • Have been a member in good standing of the National Pawnbrokers Association, or another recognized pawn association, for at least one year

  • Hold an active business license and a government-issued ID

All applications remain subject to Rapaport approval.

What’s Included?

The Rapaport Trade Pawn Brokers plan costs $1,000 per year and includes:

  • Listings for up to 50 diamonds and 50 gemstones, certified and uncertified

  • Access to verified trade buyers

  • Direct communication and negotiation with buyers

  • Rapaport diamond pricing tools

  • A dedicated account representative

  • Live Chat, Tech Support and Help Center access

Rapaport Trade charges no sales commission or transaction fees. Members pay the annual subscription and keep the full agreed sale price.

Rapaport Trade or Rapaport Auctions?

Pawn brokers can list individual stones and parcels on Rapaport Trade. However, Rapaport Auctions may be the better option for melee, mixed parcels, or goods that need evaluation and a managed sales process.

The two services complement each other:

  • Use Rapaport Trade to set an asking price and negotiate directly with buyers

  • Use Rapaport Auctions when you want Rapaport to manage the sale

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I qualify to sell on Rapaport Trade as a pawn broker?

See “Who Qualifies?” above for the full eligibility requirements. Once approved, you can start listing to verified trade buyers under the plan’s limits (see “What’s Included?”).

What can I list on Rapaport Trade?

As a pawn broker, you can list single diamonds and gems — both certified and uncertified stones qualify. Melee isn’t accepted from pawn brokers on Rapaport Trade (see the next question for where to sell it).

Where can I sell melee and mixed parcels?

You can sell melee parcels, mixed breakout, and closeouts through Rapaport Auctions, which runs monthly in diamond trading centers worldwide as a complement to Rapaport Trade. List your single stones on Rapaport Trade and keep selling melee and mixed goods through Rapaport Auctions.

Does Rapaport Trade take a commission on diamonds or gems that I sell?

No. There’s no commission or transaction fee, just the annual membership. You and the buyer negotiate directly, so the full sale price is yours.

How do I price pre-owned diamonds?

Rapaport Trade gives you diamond pricing tools so you can value the stone before you sell. Check a stone against the Rapaport Price List and live asking prices across the world’s largest natural diamond inventory.

We recommend TradeScreen to compare live market prices by category, then work the numbers in Rapaport Trade XL for Excel.

What support will I get as a pawn broker on Rapaport Trade?

Every plan includes a dedicated account representative plus Live Chat, Tech Support, and Help Center access (see “What’s Included?” above). Representatives are based in the world’s major diamond trading centers and bring decades of hands-on industry experience, so you get fast, regionally informed answers from people who understand your market.

How much does the Rapaport Trade Pawn Brokers plan cost?

$1,000 per year — see “What’s Included?” above for everything the plan covers.

Do my diamonds need a grading report to be listed?

No. You can list certified and uncertified stones. That said, you must provide accurate information about each stone — a grading report can give buyers more information and confidence when reviewing your listing. Note that Rapaport Trade only accepts natural diamonds; lab-grown diamonds are not permitted (see our diamond listings policy).

Can I list finished jewelry on Rapaport Trade?

No. The Pawn Brokers plan covers individual diamonds and gemstones only; finished jewelry goes through Rapaport Auctions instead.

What’s the difference between Rapaport Trade and Rapaport Auctions?

See “Rapaport Trade or Rapaport Auctions?” above for the full comparison.

Does Rapaport Trade buy my diamonds directly?

No. Rapaport Trade connects you with verified trade buyers. You remain the seller, set your own asking price, and negotiate directly with interested buyers.

Does listing a diamond guarantee it will sell?

No. A listing gives your stone exposure to professional trade buyers, but it doesn’t guarantee a buyer, an offer, or a sale.

Who sets the asking price?

You do. Rapaport’s pricing tools (see above) can help you price your stones, but the final asking price — and any decision to accept an offer — is yours.

Does Rapaport determine what my diamond is worth?

No. The Rapaport Price List and market data provide pricing benchmarks and market context — they aren’t appraisals or guaranteed valuations. A stone’s price also depends on its grading, condition, documentation and market demand.

Who can see my listings?

Your listings are visible to verified traders on Rapaport Trade — industry members who have completed Rapaport’s membership approval process.

Can I buy diamonds on Rapaport Trade as a pawn broker?

Yes. Once approved, you can search available inventory and contact sellers directly.

Can I list more than 50 diamonds or 50 gemstones?

The standard Pawn Brokers plan includes up to 50 diamonds and 50 gemstones. Contact your Rapaport account representative if you need to list more inventory.

What information do I need to create a listing?

You’ll need accurate information about the stone, including its shape, weight, color, clarity, and other relevant characteristics, plus grading report details if the stone is certified. Clear photographs, videos, and complete information help buyers evaluate your listing — and we strongly recommend completing your company profile too.

How do buyers contact me?

Interested buyers contact you directly through Rapaport Trade. You communicate and negotiate with them without a sales intermediary.

Does Rapaport handle payment, shipping or delivery?

Not currently - Rapaport Trade does not handle payment, shipping, or delivery.

Can I use both Rapaport Trade and Rapaport Auctions?

Yes — see “Rapaport Trade or Rapaport Auctions?” above. One practical note: if a stone listed on Rapaport Trade sells through Rapaport Auctions, remove it from your Trade listings.
