What is GreenSource?
Rapaport Trade’s GreenSource program is part of our Source Verification program, created to increase transparency, trust, and ethical sourcing in the diamond industry. It verifies a diamond’s country (and mine) of origin, and highlights diamonds that meet high ethical and environmental sourcing standards.
It provides transparency and builds trust between buyers and sellers, while promoting responsible practices across the diamond supply chain.

Trust: Buyers can be confident in the ethical sourcing of GreenSource diamonds.
Transparency: Promotes transparency in the diamond industry.
Sustainability: Supports responsible sourcing and industry best practices
Current GreenSource Criteria
A diamond qualifies for GreenSource status under one of the following conditions:
Tracr Verified and the Tracr report confirms that the source is either DTC (De Beers) or Botswana.
Tracr ID and the seller declares the source is DTC or Botswana
GIA Diamond Origin Report (DOR) with a verified source of DTC or Botswana.
GIA Grading Report with Industry Disclosure: The GIA report indicates the origin as DTC or Botswana, based on industry disclosures in Rapaport Trade’s GIA database.
How to Search for GreenSource Diamonds
Go to the Diamond Search page on Rapaport Trade > Source Verification section
Select Only GreenSource Diamonds.
You can also select mine, rough source country, or verification provider
Where to See GreenSource Status on Rapaport Trade
Look for the GreenSource logo on the diamond listing. (search results and item page)
You can also filter specifically for Green Star diamonds on the search engine.
Note for Sellers
If your diamond meets the criteria, Rapaport Trade automatically applies the GreenSource symbol—no extra steps needed!
Rough Diamond Source Country
Due to global sanctions, particularly on Russian-origin diamonds, Rapaport Trade has introduced source transparency tools for rough diamonds.
Sellers can specify the country or mine of origin when uploading diamonds to provide greater clarity and support compliant trading.
How Diamond Source Country Works on Rapaport Trade
Blank: No source was entered by the seller.
Country/Mine Field: Displays the named country or mining company for diamonds with a known source.
