Introduction to Rapaport Trade XL

Rapaport Trade XL is an add-on for Microsoft® Excel® that helps diamond traders manage inventory, price stones against the latest Rapaport Prices, and compare their pricing with the market on Rapaport Trade.

Downloading and Installing Rapaport Trade XL

  1. Log in to Rapaport Trade > Go to Growth Tools.

  2. Download Rapaport Trade XL: On the Rapaport Trade XL card, click Learn More, then click Download.

  3. Run the installer: Once the file has downloaded, run the installer and follow the prompts.

  4. Open Excel: After installation, open Excel. You should see a Rapaport Trade XL tab in the menu bar.

System Requirements for Rapaport Trade XL

  • Plans: Rapaport Trade XL is included in the Primary Supplier, Rapaport Trade Dealer, and Dealer Lite plans at no additional cost.

  • Operating System: Windows 10 or higher.

  • Excel: Excel 2016 or later.

  • Unsupported Platforms: Apple Mac and OpenOffice are not supported.

Overview of the Rapaport Trade XL tab

The Rapaport Trade XL tab is split into five groups: Rapaport Prices, Diamond Upload, Rapaport Trade on the Web, Advanced, and Help.

  1. Rapaport Prices:

    • Update Prices: Get the latest Rapaport price list and start calculating diamond prices.

    • Rapaport Prices: View the latest Rapaport price list. The date of the price list you have loaded is shown under this group.

    • Price Worksheet: Open a new worksheet to calculate prices and discounts for your diamonds. Enter your diamond details and either $/Ct or $/Total. Rapaport Trade XL calculates the other, along with Rap%, RapList and Rap/Total.

    • Fill in Rapaport Prices: Add Rapaport Trade best and average prices to a worksheet you already have. Your worksheet must include these column headers: Shape, Size/weight, Color, Clarity, Rapaport Trade Best Price and Rapaport Trade Avg Price.

    • Compare to Rapaport Trade: Compare your prices with the best and average prices on Rapaport Trade for the same diamonds. See the section below.

  2. Diamond Upload:

    • New Stock File: Open the Stock File template to upload your diamond inventory.

    • View Buy Requests: Export, view, and filter all live Buy Requests from Rapaport Trade.

    • My stock on Rapaport Trade: Export your existing inventory as a CSV file.

    • Upload to Rapaport Trade: Click the arrow to choose how to upload:

      • Replace All: Removes any lots that are not in the upload file.

      • Add and Update: Adds new lots, updates existing ones, and keeps your other lots listed on Rapaport Trade.

  3. Rapaport Trade on the Web:

    • Search Diamonds, Manage Media, and Rapaport Trade Online are shortcuts that open the matching page on Rapaport Trade in your browser.

  4. Advanced:

    • Settings: Open the settings window and go to the Price Settings tab to choose:

      • Expand Shape Codes to full names.

      • Default fill-in prices settings: when prices change, either change prices/ct and keep the discount the same, or change the discount and keep prices/ct the same.

      • Add a new Rap Price column if the Rapaport prices have changed.

      • Use 5 ct price for 10 ct diamonds: applies to the price worksheet only. Open a new price worksheet for this setting to take effect.

      • Click Apply and then OK to save your settings.

    • Auto RapPrice: Turn this on to automatically calculate the Rap price or discount as you enter or update data in your stock file.

  5. Help:

    • Help: Open help for Rapaport Trade XL.

    • Email Support: Email our support team.

    • Get Latest Version: Check for and install the latest version of Rapaport Trade XL.

    • About Rapaport Trade XL: See which version you have installed.

Using the 'Compare to Rapaport Trade' Button on Rapaport Trade XL

The Compare to Rapaport Trade button compares your diamond pricing against the default TradeScreen grid, which includes the RapSpec A1, A2, and A3 price categories.

Here's how to use it:

  1. Fill out your price worksheet: Enter the shape, size, color and clarity of each diamond, plus your price.

  2. Click "Compare to Rapaport Trade": Click the arrow and choose whether to compare by $/ct or by Rap % (discount from the Rapaport price list).

  3. View your results: Two columns are added to your worksheet, Rapaport Trade Avg Price and Rapaport Trade Best Price, showing the average and best prices listed on Rapaport Trade for each diamond. Prices are shown both in $/ct and as a Rap % discount from the Rapaport price list.
