How to Set Up Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) on Your Rapaport Trade Account

Follow these simple steps to enable multi-factor authentication on your Rapaport Trade account using an authentication app or SMS.

Written by Philippa Corrick

Multi-factor authentication (MFA) enhances the security of your Rapaport Trade account by requiring two pieces of information: your password and a 6-digit code sent to your phone or an authentication app.

We recommend using an authentication app for added security.

Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Log in to Rapaport Trade.

  2. Choose your authentication method:

    • Authentication App: Open Google Authenticator on your phone and scan the QR code displayed on the Rapaport Trade screen.

    • Phone (SMS): Enter your phone number, then choose either text or call for the 6-digit code.

  3. Enter the 6-digit code received via your chosen method and click Continue.

  4. Save your recovery code: This is a one-time code that helps you regain access to your Rapaport Trade account if you lose your primary authentication method.

Adding Biometric Authentication

If available on your device, you can add biometrics (such as fingerprint or facial recognition) as an additional authentication method.

Note: You must select Google Authenticator or SMS as your primary MFA method before enabling biometrics.

Set Up MFA on Your Smartphone

If you're unable to scan the QR code when on your smartphone, follow these instructions:

  1. Download Google Authenticator from the Google Play Store or App Store.

  2. Open the Rapaport Trade App, select Authenticator > Trouble Scanning, and then Copy the Code.

  3. Open Google Authenticator, tap the + icon, and select Enter a Setup Key. Paste the copied code.

  4. After adding Rapaport Trade, enter the 6-digit temporary code from Google Authenticator into the Rapaport Trade app.

Logging in on a New Browser or App

When signing in to Rapaport Trade for the first time in a new browser or app, you’ll need to enter your password and the temporary verification code sent to your phone or authentication app.

After successful sign-in, your session may be remembered for a limited period unless you sign out completely or change your password.

Can I change the phone number used for verification codes myself?

No. For security reasons, phone numbers used for multi-factor authentication (MFA) cannot be changed directly from your Rapaport Trade account.

If you no longer have access to your verification phone number, contact Rapaport Trade Support for assistance updating your MFA settings.

MFA Setup Notes for Rapaport Trade Account

  • Only the Primary Account Holder can enable MFA on your Rapaport Trade account.

  • You can ask Rapaport Trade to remember your device for 30 days, eliminating the need for Multi-Factor Authentication each time you log in.

  • This will work if you don't clear your cookies during that time.
