Guide to Uploading Diamonds on Rapaport Trade (formerly RapNet)

How to list diamonds on Rapaport Trade: listing rules, upload methods (single, file, FTP and API), pricing and keeping your listings live.

Written by Philippa Corrick

Uploading your diamonds to Rapaport Trade puts them in front of buyers around the world. This guide covers the four things you need to know: the listing rules, how to choose an upload method, how to price your diamonds, and how to keep your listings live. Each section links to a detailed article.

Accurate, up-to-date listings build your credibility and make it easier for buyers to find your diamonds.

Diamond listing rules

To maintain trust and uphold marketplace standards, all members must follow the Rapaport Trade Trading Rules & Code of Conduct. Sections 4 and 6 cover trading and listing restrictions.

  • Describe the quality of your diamonds honestly and fairly, including where they are located.

  • Fully disclose anything that could affect a diamond's resale value. This includes, but is not limited to, whether it is treated, synthetic, enhanced or simulated.

  • Misrepresentation is strictly prohibited, and full written disclosure is mandatory.

  • Location, availability, price and certification must all be accurate.

Diamonds you can't list

  • Lab-grown diamonds

  • White diamonds with a green tinge, hue or shade

  • Diamonds originating from Zimbabwe, diamonds from a Russian source, or sanctioned products

  • Diamonds with EGL grading reports (Trading Rules, Section 6.6)

Treated diamonds

You can list treated or HPHT diamonds, as long as the treatment is disclosed in the Treatment field. See which treatments are allowed.

Choosing a diamond upload method

These are the three most common ways to list and update your diamonds:

Method

Format

Help article

Single diamond

Web form or the Rapaport Trade app

Rapaport Trade XL

CSV, XLS, XLSX

Rapaport Trade website

CSV

You can also upload by FTP, or in Polyplus or Certnet format. See How to Upload Diamonds: Single, Multiple and FTP Uploads.

Upload by API

An API automates your uploads. See the RapTech upload instructions for details.

Good to know: your programmer needs a login token to upload by API. Give them API credentials, not your Rapaport Trade login details. See Set up API Credentials for your Programmer.

Which upload method is right for me?

It's hard to keep track of your inventory with single uploads, so we recommend uploading from an Excel or CSV file.

  • Single diamond uploads suit members with around 20–30 diamonds or fewer.

  • With an Excel or CSV file, you can choose to add and update (upload only your changes) or replace all (resync your entire Rapaport Trade stock with your file).

  • API uploads suit members with a large, active inventory. The source can be a stock program or an Excel file.

Pricing your diamonds

  • White diamonds (D–Z color) under 4 carats must be uploaded with a price per carat ($/ct) or a discount. Fancy color diamonds can be uploaded without a price.

  • There are four pricing columns: Rapaport Trade Price, Rapaport Trade Discount Percent, Cash Price and Cash Price Discount Percent. See Pricing Issues When Uploading Diamonds to learn how they affect your pricing.

  • If you fill in both the discount % and the $/ct, Rapaport Trade uses only the $/ct, so check the pricing in your upload file carefully.

  • You don't need to fill in the Rapaport price. Rapaport Trade calculates it when you upload.

  • Diamonds of 10 carats and over: if you price them using the 5-carat price list, upload them with $/ct pricing, not a discount %.

Keeping your listings live

  • Diamond listings expire every 7 days. Refresh them in My Listings or upload a new inventory file at least once a week to keep them on Rapaport Trade.

  • Remove sold diamonds promptly and update details when they change.
